Thorn Bigley
Thorn Bigley was a member of Kansas' track and field teams from 1969 to 1972. He opened the 1970-1971 season as a member of the winning two-mile relay team at the Liberty Bowl Invitation. Bigley was also a member of KU's distance medley relay team that set a world record of 9:33.0 at the 1969 Kansas Relays. He ran the three-quarter carry in 2:57.9. He clocked 2:10.4 for the indoor 1,000 while winning the Oklahoma City Invitation. He also ran a leg on the distance medley relay team at the 1969 Michigan State Relays that broke the meet and fieldhouse record with a 9:49.8 time and his split was 2:57.3. His best mile as a KU varsity runner was 4:08.8 in the 1969 UCLA dual, which was good for second place. In addition to setting a world record, Bigley was an All-American in 1971.
