Charlie Black
Charlie Black, a two-time all-conference and All-American selection, helped the Jayhawks compile a 49-6 record in his three years at KU. His main asset to the team came in the form of his intense defensive style. Black contributed to KU's three Missouri Valley Championships and the 1922 and 1923 Helms Foundation National Championships. After leaving Kansas, Black eventually made his way to the University of Nebraska. He was head coach of the Cornhuskers for six seasons from 1927-32. Black's jersey was one of seven Jayhawk jerseys retired during the 1992 season.
