Randell Julian
Randell Julian was a member of the Kansas track and field teams from 1968 to 1970. He ran a 47.1 quarter on the world record distance medley relay team that ran 9:33 flat at the 1969 Kansas Relays. He was a member of the 880-yard relay team that barely missed winning the "Triple Crown" at the Texas, Kansas and Drake Relays. The Kansas team won at Texas in 1:23.4, at Kansas in 1:23.6 and was narrowly edged out by Rice by a tenth of a second at Drake. However, that mark set a Jayhawk record at the time. Randy held the school indoor record for the 600 with 1:11 flat as a third place time at the 1969 Michigan State Relays. He ran a leg on KU's winning mile relay team at the 1969 Big Eight Indoor meet and also ran on the Jayhawk mile relay team that clocked 3:16.9 for second place at the 1969 NCAA Indoor. During his frosh campaign, he ran with teams that crakced KU freshman records for the mile relay indoors and the mile and sprint medley outdoors. He was clocked in 46.7 for his carry in the outdoor mile relay as the Jayhawk yearlings dipped to 3:12.7. Julian was a member of the 1968 and 1969 Big 8 Conference Championship squads. In his 1969 season, he was named an All-American.
