John Trombold
John Trombold, a native of Wichita, Kan., became the first University of Kansas baseball player to earn All-American status after a successful career that ended in 1954. Playing for Floyd Temple, Trombold led the Jayhawks to a 10-5 record during his senior season. A graduate of Wichita East High School, Trombold was drafted by the Chicago White Sox after his KU playing career. John followed in the footsteps of his father, George, who played at KU in the early 1930's. John's brother, Jim, played at KU from 1956-58.
